During Stockholm Craft Week 2024, which runs from October 2-6, Artten Gallery will present the exhibition “When Craft Becomes Music and Its Consequences.” We have two special guests, Nefeli Oikonomou (Greece/Sweden) and Solen Kipoz (Turkey). Additionally, we will introduce the female artist collective Women of Artten, who use crafts for social impact.

Vernissage Friday, October 4th, 17.00-21.00

Saturday, October 5th, 15.00-20.00

In the exhibition “When Craft Becomes Music and Its Consequences” the transition from craft to music is explored, and visitors are invited to become co-creators. Artten Gallery will transform into a living installation with threads, fabrics and nets, alluding to various musical instruments. Explore your inner world beyond words to transform conflict, sorrow, and trauma into music together with others. Can we thus create a more peaceful future?

Performance med Nefeli Oikonomou & Undine

Friday, October 4th, 18.00-19.00

Performance artist Nefeli Oikonomou explores the transition from crafts to music through body and movement. Handicrafts create a unique environment for artistic expression. Together with the artist, visitors have the opportunity to explore a broader world of creativity and inspiration, and experience genuine mutual support through collective creation.

Artist Talk med Solen Kipoz

Saturday, October 5th, 18.00-19.00

Meet artist and fashion professor Solen Kipoz from Turkey, who identifies as a “craftivist.” Her latest initiative, “Witches of the East,” is a female artist collective that merges art, fashion, and craft. During the evening at Artten Gallery, visitors can explore her curatorial and artistic visions on sustainability, sisterhood, and traditions. This program is supported by the Swedish Institute.

Workshop with Tanya Yahno (Women of Artten)

Friday, October 4th, 19.00-21.00 and Saturday, October 5th, 15.00-18.00

Join us for a workshop “Make Flowers, Not War” led by Tanya Yahno from Ukraine as we delve deeper into the connection between music and crafts. While creating stylish, handcrafted flowers, we’ll also collaborate on a shared Spotify playlist that celebrates crafts as a source of well-being, inspiration, and empowerment. All materials are included, and you’ll leave with new knowledge, tools, and a sense of creative fulfillment.
