This special event for Stockholmshem residents and neighbours is an invitation to meet, create and spend time together.
At the heart of the event is Roses of Ties – a participatory art project where old neckties are transformed into handmade roses. Craft becomes a simple way to bring people together: while our hands are busy, conversations begin, stories are shared and new connections can grow.
The event is a pilot project exploring how craft and participatory art can create moments of connection within a neighbourhood.
Throughout the day, visitors can join drop-in Roses of Ties workshops, contribute to a collective Wall of Love, donate a tie and share the story behind it.
For children and families, there will also be a Tie School, where participants can learn how to tie a necktie, discover how silk is made and explore how an everyday object can be transformed through creativity and reuse.
No experience is needed. Come for a workshop, bring a tie or a story – or simply come and meet your neighbours. 🌹
Programme – Saturday, 5 September
- 11:00–15:00 Roses of Ties workshop and tie collection (drop-in)
- 11:00 Presentation by artist Ludmila Christeseva about the Roses of Ties project
- 12:00–13:00 Stories Behind the Ties – sharing memories and conversations
- 13:00–14:00 Tie School for children and adults. Learn how to tie a necktie, discover how silk is made, how many silkworms are needed to make a single tie, and how a simple garment can be transformed into a rose through upcycling.
- 14:00–15:00 Fika and conversation about sustainable fashion, upcycling, and how fashion changes in times of war and social transformation.
