Free Roses of Ties Workshops
29–31 July | Östermalm
Join our free Roses of Ties workshops at Östermalmstorg! Spend a creative summer afternoon outdoors. Meet new people, transform discarded neckties into beautiful textile roses, enjoy conversations over fika, and help build a welcoming community together. No previous experience is needed. Bring a necktie if you have one – or simply come as you are. All materials are provided, and everyone is welcome.

📍 Meeting point: Vindspår, the new sculpture at Östermalmstorg!
Bring a tie to donate, if you wish, and share the story behind it. Feel free to bring your own scissors, needles, and thread, although all materials will be provided.
No previous experience is needed. Ukrainian women will guide the workshops and teach you how to create a Rose of Ties. In return, they look forward to practising Swedish, learning new words, and sharing conversations with you over fika.
Everyone is welcome. Together, we build community.

Roses of Ties is a participatory art method that transforms discarded neckties into collectible, wearable textile roses. Each rose is crafted by hand and worn close to the heart as a symbol of care, connection, and remembrance. We make them for one another – for the people we love, appreciate, and cherish.
More than a craft workshop, Roses of Ties creates opportunities for conversation, creativity, and community. By making together, sharing stories, and spending time with one another, we build understanding across generations, cultures, and life experiences.
The workshops also create a welcoming space where Ukrainian women can meet local residents, practise Swedish in everyday conversations, and share their craftsmanship. In return, participants learn the art of making a Rose of Ties, exchange stories, and perhaps create a meaningful gift for someone they care about.
No previous experience is needed, and all ages are welcome.
